Taiwan is the happiest place in East Asia and 26th in the world.

In the World Happiness Report 2018, Taiwan ranked first in the East Asian region and 26th overall among 156 countries based on people’s “subjective well-being”, which the research suggests can be explained by six key variables: “income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust, and generosity.”

Two Taiwanese cities rank among the world’s hundred best cities for international students.

In the Best Student Cities index published by QS in 2017, Taipei is deemed to be the 21st in the world, followed by Hsinchu in 75th place, “based on university rankings, student mix, employer activity, desirability, affordability, and student views.”
