Taiwan’s universal health care system is lauded internationally for its ability to deliver low-cost, high-quality health care to the population. It has also been referred to as “a true ‘single-payer system'” and “one of the few where the government provides insurance directly, rather than through some independent intermediaries or private carriers.”
